Want to turn your over-fermented sourdough mishap into a sweet twist on monkey bread? Here’s a fun, easy recipe to transform those extra-fermented loaves into a delicious treat!
Ingredients:
- ~1 lb over-fermented sourdough (if it’s too sticky, dust with extra flour)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (divided)
- Optional: Icing sugar for dusting or a drizzle of caramel
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a bundt pan with melted butter.
- In a bowl, mix together the sugar & cinnamon.
- Tear or cut your sourdough into roughly 1-inch pieces.
- Toss each piece in the cinnamon & sugar mix until well coated.
- Drizzle half of the melted butter over the bundt pan, then layer your dough pieces in.
- Drizzle the remaining butter on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden and the dough puffs up.
- Let cool for about 5 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate. Dust with icing sugar or add a caramel drizzle if you like!
