Want to turn your over-fermented sourdough mishap into a sweet twist on monkey bread? Here’s a fun, easy recipe to transform those extra-fermented loaves into a delicious treat!

Ingredients:

  • ~1 lb over-fermented sourdough (if it’s too sticky, dust with extra flour)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (divided)
  • Optional: Icing sugar for dusting or a drizzle of caramel

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a bundt pan with melted butter.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the sugar & cinnamon.
  3. Tear or cut your sourdough into roughly 1-inch pieces.
  4. Toss each piece in the cinnamon & sugar mix until well coated.
  5. Drizzle half of the melted butter over the bundt pan, then layer your dough pieces in.
  6. Drizzle the remaining butter on top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden and the dough puffs up.
  8. Let cool for about 5 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate. Dust with icing sugar or add a caramel drizzle if you like!
